Over the next few days, go on a “moral concepts crawl.” Be looking for ways in which some of the major ideas discussed in our first session manifest themselves in ordinary life. Briefly explain two or three examples of ways in which some of these major concepts arise in your experience.

Note: Don’t think simply of these concepts “in the news;” think about how they arise in your interactions with people as well as in your own decision-making, apart from other people. Also, by “major ideas,” you should have in mind the many different themes in the material we covered, e.g., ethics as a necessity; altruism’s package deal; the standard of ethics as opposed to the purpose; value as relational; competing ideas about the sources of morality’s authority. (And these are merely examples, not an exhaustive list.) Have fun with it!
